The Irish Architectural Archive Architecture Gallery and Reading Room are open from 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesdays to Fridays. The Architecture Gallery and Reading Room will close at 5 pm on Thursday 20 December 2012 and reopen at 10 am on Wednesday 2 January 2013.
The Archive would like to wish all its readers, supporters and friends a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
DoCoMoMo Ireland presents Central Bank in the 21st Century: an open design competition to develop ideas for what the building might become.
The architectural ideas competition seeks to generate discussion among designers and decision-makers about the future of the Central Bank building. The competition is open to all and offers a prize fund of €1500. The competition opens on 1st December 2012 – registration is via www.docomomo.ie. Submission of entries is 1st March 2013. The assessors are drawn from strategic planning, architecture, culture, architectural history and current affairs backgrounds.

Thanks to the support of the Heritage Council, the Irish Architectural Archive’s Celebrating Pugin Exhibition is now on in the Hunt Museum, Limerick. It will run until early February 2013.

Continuing in the Irish Architectural Archive’s Architecture Gallery, Merrion Square 250: An exhibition of drawings from the National Archives of Ireland at the Irish Architectural Archive to mark the 250th anniversary of the creation of Merrion Square.
The Archive will be open for Culture Night, Friday 21 September, from 5 pm to 11 pm. There will be guided tours all evening and a chance to see our Merrion Square 250 exhibition.
Now on in the Architecture Gallery of the Irish Architectural Archive – Merrion Square 250: An exhibition of drawings from the National Archives of Ireland at the Irish Architectural Archive to mark the 250th anniversary of the creation of Merrion Square.
The exhibition is accompanied by a free lunch-time lecture series.
Merrion Square Open Day will be held on Saturday 25 August 2012. Once again the Irish Architectural Archive will be participating in this Heritage Week event. No. 45 will be open for guided tours from 10 am to 5 pm (last tour 4.30 pm). There will also be an opportunity to see ‘Merrion Square 250: An exhibition of drawings from the National Archives of Ireland at the Irish Architectural Archive to mark the 250th anniversary of the creation of Merrion Square’.
